SPHO MA Member Meeting

Members and Friends in attendance:

Deb Adams, Clare Weiand, Marty Gruer, John and Sue Frost, Rose
Hasselton, Jen and Baily Horrigan, Cath Bouthillier, Gale Matheson,
Karen Fleming-Brooks, and non member Pam Lyons

Meeting:

Meeting held to review recent board meeting suggestions and comments as
well as to get ideas.

1. Deb announced and showed the winning NEHT prize for Judy Lorimar
for winning High Point Standardbred for milage. Congradulations to
Judy and “We Be Flyn”

2. Deb again announced the points program for SPHO MA. Sheets available
on the internet. NEHT – Down load your sheets before the season starts
– keep them handy. Awards will be at the January meeting 2010. Good
luck. The Brookfield trail ride will be sponsored separately from this
to help promote the breed. This was the first year we sponsored our
breed there were two Standardbreds registered – Karen Fleming Brooks
riding Madam Adams (Maddy) won the jacket for herself and a cooler for Maddy - great
ride for both of them.

3. Events for 2009. As we all enjoy our own personal interest with our
horses: showing, driving, racing or trail riding, (remember to keep
your records on all your events for the year end awards) the club will
hold a few activities – fun day is high on the list – date, place and
time to be announced - we may join NH for their fun day at the
Rockingham Track – trail ride and cook out at Adams house – date to be
announced.

This year we decided to pass on selling tickets to Derby Day –
many members purchased tickets from Cath Bouthillier – sponsoring
Phoenix Rising Equine Rescue in CT (a rescue agency) a very worthy organization,
good luck Cath!

The Foxboro Founders Day Parade – the club will sponsor John
and Sue Frost and their team Action and Arvee Bee N and carriage –
anyone that wishes to help John and Sue please contact them.
John Haseltine is the member that suggested this parade for the club,
John had a heart attack last year, we would love to see John at the
parade in some capacity.

A trip to Acadia National Park in Maine is in the works.
Details are being worked out. Early fall seemed the best for the
majority who wished to go. This included Deb, Gail, Clare, Marty, Sue,
John Frost and the Horrigans family. This is a family event – there are
campsites and B+B very close to the park, if we can not make plans for
this year, we will defiantly get there next year . We would love our
friends in other SPHO clubs to join us.

October: some discussion about sponsoring a breed class in the
local hunter pace, Karen was asked to check with other clubs to see if
there is an interested in sponsoring there breeds – if they do then
SPHO will re-address this request.

November: Eastern Regional Trail Ride. Lots of fun. Has a breed
class for standardbreds. Nice gifts offered. Everyone is encouraged to
come ride and drive.

4. Chats: chat site is hard to keep up with due to spam . Discussion
was to move our breed chatting to Equinesite but keep the website for
photos and links to equinesite and standardbreds4sale a site Cath has
listing standardbreds on. All agree it's likely the best thing to do.
Cath handles this site – Cath has also asked for updated pictures –
if you have any – please contact her. It was discussed and approved to
record the minutes of the meeting on this site as an information center
– thank you Cath.

5. Treasurers Report and discussion.

Meeting adjourned.
