Myles Standish State Forest.
It is actually two rides - a 25 mile CTR and a 35 mile CTR.
If any of you have ever considered a forray into competitive trail riding,
this would be the one to try. Myles Standish has great, soft footing
and easy trails to ride. If you aren't considering riding it, I can
always use
volunteers. I have several from the group already (Kristy and Bonnie,
just to name a few). I am using these rides as a way to promote the
Standardbred in CTR/endurance

Great Brook State Park -
There have been lots of requests to do a CTR clinic, so here it is.
If you aren't ready to try a full blown ride, here is you chance
to experience one, but in a clinic setting. The ride will be
around 12 - 15 miles (depending on what is available at
Great Brook State Park. There will be vetting just like at a real CTR,
and you will be riding under ECTRA rules with time limits, just scaled
down to the distance that will be ridden. I am actually thinking of
making this a two part clinic - an hour or two of classroom instruction
first.
What is ECTRA, what are the rules, why are the rules the way they are,
how to condition, train, and get yourself and your horse ready to ride.
Why should I feed myself and my horse, you get the drift.
This way you can ask and get your questions answered before you do the
ride.
The second part of the clinic will be the ride itself.

Lake Dennison State Park.
It is a 25 mile CTR ride and drive. There are lots of people who compete
in CTR but drive instead of riding. This is a great place to ride. Lots
of
wide open, dirt roads in the middle of the woods. Great for riding and
driving. I am still working out the logistics on this one, so look for
more
details as they become available. Again, if you aren't considering riding
it,
I can always use volunteers. I have several from the group already
(Kristy and Bonnie, just to name a few). I am using these rides as a
way
to promote the Standardbred in CTR/Endurance.
